 Q: How old must my daughter be to play?

A: 5

Q: What are the age groups/divisions?

A: Age groups are based on the grade your daughter is in right now, broken down like this:

  • T-ball: Pre-K and kindergarten
  • Coach Pitch: 1st and 2nd grade
  • Division 1: 3rd and 4th grade
  • Division 2: 5th and 6th grade
  • Division 3: 7th and 8th grade
  • Division 4: 9th thru 12th grade

Q: How are the teams selected?

A: Entire teams are allowed to stay together from one year to the next, provided that the team has a sponsor. Coaches do not have the right to “cut” players from one season to the next, but girls/parents have the right to be placed on new teams if they choose. Those players, as well as new players, will be assigned to a team by the Division Representative.

Q: Can my daughter be on a team with her sister or her friends?

A: Sisters who play in the same division will be placed on the same team. LSGSA will make every effort to place friends on the same team, but we won’t guarantee it.

Q: My daughter has never played before. Does she need to have experience to register?

A: She does not. LSGSA is a recreational, instructional league, and first-year players are absolutely welcome.

Q: What if we don’t live in Lee’s Summit?

A: LSGSA is not restricted to Lee’s Summit residents only. However, if the league and/or a specific division is nearing full capacity, priority will be given to Lee’s Summit residents.

Q: When does the season start and end?

A: Practices start the week of April 2, and games start the week of May 14. The post-season tournament starts on July 9 and will culminate by July 15.

Q: Where and when do we play games?

A: Games are played on weeknights at Legacy Park. Some exceptions may apply due to rain out games.

Q: Where and when are practices?

A: Practices will be held at Legacy Park, Miller J. Fields (1301 SE 3rd Terrace) and/or Banner Park (601 NE Park Drive). The practice days and times are determined by each individual coach.

Q: What equipment do I need to provide?

A: A glove and softball cleats, for sure. The league will provide batting helmets, catcher’s gear and bats for each team, and each player will receive a uniform shirt.

Q: Are there any special training and/or clinics?

A: Yes. There will be a mandatory clinic for all coaches and an optional pitching clinic for players and coaches. Keep an eye on the LSGSA web site for details.

Q:  How can I help out?

A: We’re always looking for coaches and assistant coaches, so please sign up online as a coach when you register your daughter by checking the appropriate box. You will be required to pass a background check – at a cost of $9.50 – and you can pay for this process when you register.

Q: What is the registration fee?

A: The fee for CP through Division 4 is $130/player. T-Ball is $120.00

Q: What if I want a refund?

A: Registration fees are non-refundable, but the LSGSA Board of Directors will consider refunds in extreme cases.

Q: Can I register online? 

A: Yes. Online registration is open until March 3, though we strongly encourage participants to register before then. If your daughter’s division reaches full capacity before March 4, we will shut down online registration.
